Scope of Work

• Full traffic management provision for an 18-month phased water main installation
• Installation and management of 2-way temporary traffic light systems
• Implementation of 3-way and 4-way temporary traffic signals as site layouts changed
• Temporary road closures with clearly signed diversion routes where required
• Safe pedestrian management through and around the works
• Ongoing monitoring, maintenance and adjustment of traffic layouts
• Coordination with the principal contractor and local highways authority

All layouts complied with Chapter 8 and NHSS 12D standards and were delivered by LANTRA-qualified operatives.

Our approach

Given the live highway environment and extended duration of works, this project requires a proactive and flexible approach.

We began with detailed site assessments and traffic management design planning to accommodate phased works along Wales Road. As the installation progresses, our team regularly reviews traffic flows, site constraints and public access requirements to adapt the layout accordingly.

Throughout the project we have:

• Maintained safe two-way vehicle movement using temporary signal control
• Introduced 3-way and 4-way signal systems at junctions when required
• Installed and managed road closures to allow safe excavation and installation works
• Ensured pedestrian routes remain protected and clearly defined
• Carried out routine inspections and real-time adjustments to maintain compliance and efficiency

Close communication with the water utility contractor and highways authority ensures all changes are planned in advance and implemented safely, minimising disruption to the local community.

The project continues to progress safely and efficiently, with traffic systems operating effectively across each phase of works.

Our adaptable approach has allowed construction activities to move forward without major disruption to road users, while maintaining high safety standards for both the workforce and the public.
